Intermediate--Plays Most days--Used More than 10 reedmakers--Reedmaking: Buy and do not adjust
I purchased two reeds from Colorado Reeds, a professional and an intermediate that I wanted to use just for practice purposes. I will never order anything from Colorado Reeds again. The intermediate was so open as to be almost unplayable. My teacher had to put a wire around it to close it. She also had to adjust it more than any other reed I have ever had. The professional was better but it is stuffy and has a very uneven tone. I can do much, much better from other reed makers for the same price.
Professional--Plays Most days--Used 1 reedmakers--Reedmaking: Professional reedmaker
Hi all – just wanted to let everyone know that I’ve moved recently. I’m no longer in Denver, but am now located in Knoxville, TN. Don’t worry, I’m still making reeds and running the business! The only thing that has changed is my altitude – which is now MUCH friendlier for making reeds. Any questions, let me know.
Intermediate--Plays Most days--Used 2-5 reedmakers--Reedmaking: Buy and do not adjust
Very good reeds, however i found that when i tried to play higher notes seemed to thin and the players around me felt it too. Also the A flat-B natural mid range notes seemed to have a leak on mine
Beginner--Plays Most days--Used 2-5 reedmakers--Reedmaking: Buy and do not adjust
These reeds intonate very well and were enjoyable to play on– I ordered med-soft and they were perfect. The reeds have lasted for quite a while even w/ practicing ~ 5x/wk. A+ I will order from Jennifer again!
I simply love Jennifer’s reeds. The tone and intonation of her reeds are such a huge upgrade for any oboist searching for great oboe and english horn reeds. They are so consistently good and dependable, and have incredibly reasonable prices compared to her counterparts. She is also loyal to her refund policies, and works for the customer, not just for the money
Intermediate--Used 2-5 reedmakers--Plays most days--Usually makes own reeds
Jennifer’s reeds are wounderful. I used it for my ABRSM exam, and finally the English man gave me a comment which he enjoy the sound of my oboe. Also, my reeds usually success with using Jennifer’s cane. Highly recommend to all, from beginner to professional~
Professional--Used 6-10 reedmakers--Plays most days--Usually makes own reeds
Jennifer’s reeds are FANTASTIC!!! I have tried many different reeds and these are the first I’ve bought that I didn’t have to adjust at all. She is also very prompt and her prices are the best I’ve seen for the quality of the reed.
these turned out to not be the reeds for me, but Jennifer cheerfully and promptly refunded my money when I returned them, as she promises. You can order with confidence; many others appear to love her reeds and if they aren’t for you, Jennifer stands behind her refund policy.
I really love Jennifer’s reeds. They work beautifully with my Loree to provide a dark warm sound. Every reed I have received has been of excellent quality. Her prices are also very reasonable.
cokomo January 31, 2012: Lyn Davies I don’t know if the reed stock is different or what, but I have just purchased three reeds from Rush’s and the next day two of them were cracked.
geekygeek January 28, 2012: Jones Double Reed Products Good for beginners, and the medium soft is quite easily to blow on. Pretty durable and consistent. They’re good beginner reeds but the sound quality isn’t so fantastic. I use just a regular knife (even though you should buy a...
Anonymous January 14, 2012: SUGGESTION BOX Thank you so much for this site. I have a limited # of manufacturers where I lived, and they all sound bad( Jones, Emerald, Richards). Anyway, you could improve the collected ratings page by sepeating them by area(USA, Asia, Australia, Canada,...
Anonymous January 14, 2012: The Reedmaker For me, these reeds are the best. I ordered three reeds from him and two of them were too hard, so I sent them back, and he scraped more and threw another one in! Every one of them were the best sounding reeds I have played so far, not that I have...

Klezmer January 4, 2012: Reed Expression Normall have made my own for years, but do not have the time. I purchased 5 medium-soft German scrape reeds. I just adjusted them to my own chops and all five play very well. They respond easy and have very good intonation. I am trying a couple EH...

I tried reeds from Colorado reeds 2 times. They were not right for me. Jennifer seems really nice.

I would be willing to order these reeds again.
Only tried once, weren’t substantial enough for me. Probably very good for a less demanding playing schedule.
