Intermediate--Plays Most days--Used More than 10 reedmakers--Reedmaking: Buy and do not adjust
The reeds that I have gotten from Cascade Reeds have been uniformly excellent. I like them and will continue to use them. When they have been used enough to be demoted to practice reed status, they seem to last forever. I will agree with those who do not like the fact that one can wait a long time for an order but all that says is, if you like the reed, plan ahead.
Advanced--Used 6-10 reedmakers--Plays most days--Buys but adjusts
I really enjoyed her reeds a couple of years ago, but one day she quit responding to our order. I never sent anything back, and never complained. After 6 months, I quit calling trying to place my order.
I agree with the others. If and when you get your order, the reeds are great. However, I think she is ignoring me now. One time I asked to have the pitch a bit higher for my new oboe and the batch came and they were flatter than the previous times. I sent them back to be fixed and that was the end of me. I’m on her s*** list.
The wait was so bad that I had to get on her monthly ordering list. And they don’t even come monthly! Sometimes they’re okay, and other times, they aren’t so good.
I have been very impressed with these reeds (for my students) and the price is good; but they take an inordinate amount of time to arrive (6+ weeks, even more) Several of my students will not order again because of the lengthy wait. If she could even give out a delivery date so people could plan ahead that would be great.
cokomo January 31, 2012: Lyn Davies I don’t know if the reed stock is different or what, but I have just purchased three reeds from Rush’s and the next day two of them were cracked.
geekygeek January 28, 2012: Jones Double Reed Products Good for beginners, and the medium soft is quite easily to blow on. Pretty durable and consistent. They’re good beginner reeds but the sound quality isn’t so fantastic. I use just a regular knife (even though you should buy a...
Anonymous January 14, 2012: SUGGESTION BOX Thank you so much for this site. I have a limited # of manufacturers where I lived, and they all sound bad( Jones, Emerald, Richards). Anyway, you could improve the collected ratings page by sepeating them by area(USA, Asia, Australia, Canada,...
Anonymous January 14, 2012: The Reedmaker For me, these reeds are the best. I ordered three reeds from him and two of them were too hard, so I sent them back, and he scraped more and threw another one in! Every one of them were the best sounding reeds I have played so far, not that I have...
Peter VandeBurgt January 14, 2012: SUGGESTION BOX The link to my eBay site has changed; here’s the new link. Thanks for good work! http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2807606 26694?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:I T&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l264 9
Klezmer January 4, 2012: Reed Expression Normall have made my own for years, but do not have the time. I purchased 5 medium-soft German scrape reeds. I just adjusted them to my own chops and all five play very well. They respond easy and have very good intonation. I am trying a couple EH...

I bought some reeds at the IDRS convention from her and she was super nice. She knew exactly what I wanted. The down side is always the wait though.

Don’t dare try to exchange the defective reeds (even when half of the batch is bad), or you will get kicked out as a customer.
reeds are good IF you ever get them!!!!! wait can be up to 3 months without hearing from her.
The reeds have been good, but it takes forever to get them and she gets upset if you bug her.

Can take a while but they are consistent. she will make them to your specs!
