I used his profiled cane when I was first learning to make reeds. It was such a nice learning tool to have a reed that can make a crow just after tying it and clipping the tip. The profiler that is used leaves a very nice tip and heart. I would suggest his cane to any young students just starting the reed making process and need less frustration than is usually. And after just looking at his price list, if you are a busy teacher that can't spend time making 10 reeds a week for students that are just going to shred the tip, $12 is a deal for his finished reeds.

As a student studying in a conservatory, I think Bill's reed is not awful, not mess at all. I do not agree with someone saying Bill's reed is so bad that can't be even worse.

I bought Bill's reed very long time ago, and I still remember what the texture, what's the sound was when I'm playing with. Actually, it sounds great.

But I think he can improve with the windows. I think if the window part can be scrape it more distinct, the sound would project more clear, because sometimes the reed sounds a bit too dark.

Best wishes to you Bill,
Justin

This is Bill Roscoe again. On every reed I sell there is a note on the bottom of the box that says, "Guaranteed to play." Anyone who is not happy with my reeds can give me a call. My number is listed. I will either replace the reed or give the customer their money back. Bill Roscoe

As a professional woodwind player I used Bill's reeds over a two year period. As time went on I did a little customizing and like all commercially available reeds you play on the best of a bunch. I have 10 reeds in my reed case now and fuss with them during practice....come show time I go with my best reed. My advice is to buy lots and pick the best. If you go with a reed that costs 25 dollars you don't have that luxury . Bill is great to do business with....professional and friendly.
