I have tried Meredeth’s oboe, English horn, and oboe d’amore reeds. All are consistent and play well. I have performed the Bach A major oboe d’amore concerto on these reeds, and the English horn solos from New World Symphony and Mahler Symphony no. 3 on her reeds as well. I am currently waiting for another shipment. I highly recommend these!

I agree — these are excellent reeds, the best I’ve found on the Web in the last couple of years!!

I’ve never used these reeds before, but it has gotten a lot of good comments, so I might give it a shot. I’ve been using Duste reeds, which are of fine quality and produce a warm tone quality. I’m surprised that Duste isn’t on your list, because it should be. Not to show off or anything, but I was for chair oboist in All-State this year. WOOT-WOOT!!!!!!!!

I like Meredith’s reeds a lot. They are not “perfect for me” when I get them, but very rarely does that ever happen. I let the reeds sit and settle for a while if I can’t use them right away. Usually, they will be just fine and need only minimal tinkering. Again, I know it is almost impossible to get the “perfect” reed delivered to your door. To me, “minimal tinkering” means an great reed has been sent to me.

I cannot say enough good things about Meredeth Rouse and Back Bay Reeds. The reeds I receive from her are consistently of the very highest quality. I can only speak to her Professional Quality reeds. They are simple wonderful. I am now a “subscription reed purchaser” of Back Bay Reeds.
