Advantage is NOT owned by Chartier in Albuquerque. Whoever is claiming this is MISINFORMED and seems to have some sort of grudge and wants to belittle others. Just guessing that it might be a recent "Anonymous" Aug 11th commenter who is probably touting his own reeds but seems to have trouble remembering to pay his bills (and is now cut off from a supply source). This comment is just so folks will consider the "Anonymous" source before taking everything published in this forum as gospel. Does slander ring a bell? PS: it is situations like this that show a need for an identity requirement for comments (especially for those who want to publish falsehoods)

These reeds are made by Chartier in Albuquerque, who owns the Advantage site as his retail outlet. His reeds are sold under many names, but are all only suitable for beginners i.e. the first week of playing. Machine made from cheap materials, they will give you the duck-like sound the oboe is stereotyped as having. Don't buy them.

I have been purchasing these reeds for my daughter for quite awhile now. They have an excellent return policy, but we have been having problems over the last several months with the reeds leaking air. We have even had her private lesson instructor check the reeds before returning them. I am now looking for a more reliable reed.
