La Voz oboe and bassoon reeds were also made by Jones
Most people say that reeds are good for a beginner, and bad for everything else. I respectfully disagree. I tried them as a beginner, and they sucked. Horribly. Don’t get them unless you’re way beyond desperate.
Good for beginner levels.
Not so hot for anything else.
Overall, not reliable.
La Voz reeds are off the market. Please remove from site.
aweful reed! I’ve bought several, just to see if it was just one, but they all were bad. Hard to break in, and break too easily. Will never buy again.
Took a very long time to break in. Not the best tone at all and wouldn’t reccomond them.
Not consistent in quality. Bought 5 Medium soft at once for my daughter. 2 wouldn’t blow from the beginning. 1 blew, but was difficult to get a good tone. The other two were OK. Probably won’t buy anymore.
They are decent reeds, not all the time though. Very very inconsistent quality. Sometimes they come out right, most of the time they don’t. Obviously adjustments are required most of the time. I never encourage, even beginners to play on untested and unadjusted store bought reeds, but under circumstances where it is necessary to do so, prefer them over Ricos. Don’t buy their softer reeds. And check the tip opening before purchasing. La Voz is basically under the Rico company. It is very very stupid, in their website (http://www.ricoreeds.com/products.aspx?productCategoryName=DoubleReeds&tabIndex=0), they claim their Rico reeds have wires because they can be used to adjust the opening, every reed maker knows, that is not true at all, the wire is there merely to maintain the opening. I must admit that the La Vozs come out better than the Ricos, almost all the time. But still….no…..i don’t consider them worth the money and long term effort.
